If your PC failed to detect the player after upgrade from Windows Media Player 10 to 11 then there is a chance that the USB controllers may be corrupted on your PC.
Please follow the steps below to re-install the USB controllers.

1. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>System
2. Select the Hardware tab
   
3. Click to enter the Device Manager
   
4. Extend the Universal Serial Bus controllers and select each USB port available
   
5. Double click and then select the Driver tab
   
6. Click on the Update driver button
   
7. Under the question "Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?" select "No, not this time" and then click Next.
   
8. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Click Next.
   
9. At the Hardware Update Wizard, select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." Click Next.
   
10. Select "Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller" and then click Next to complete.
    

If you have already upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 and have encountered any problem please follow the instructions below to roll back to Windows Media Player 10

1. Disconnect the device from PC.
2. Make sure that WMP11 is not running. If WMP11 window is open, please close the same before starting this process. Sometimes, it is possible that WMP11 is running in the background. To make sure that it is closed completely follow:
   1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get Windows Security window and select Task Manager button.
   2. Go to Processes tab and select wmplayer.exe process and press End Process.
      
3. Open Windows Explorer. Select Control Panel from the left pane. Select and open Add or remove Programs as shown in figure below:
    
4. n Add or Remove Programs panel please check Show Updates as shown in the figure below:
   
5. Select the following components as per the order and click to Change/Remove to uninstall the same from the PC:
   • Windows Media Player 11
   • WMP11 Media format runtime11
   • Microsoft User mode Driver framework feature pack 1.0.0 (Pre release 5348)
6. The system will ask you to re-start. Please follow the same and let the PC re-start.
   Warning: System re-start has to be done for the changes to reflect properly.
   
7. Make sure that all the above three components are uninstalled successfully.
8. Now WMP10 has been restored.
9. Connect the device to the PC.
10. Right click My Computer -> Manage to get Computer Management window.
11. Here select Device Manager from left side.
12. Open Portable Devices tab Philips devices will be listed here.
13. Right click on the Philips device and select Uninstall as shown in the figure below:
    
14. Disconnect and reconnect device to the PC.
15. Now your PC has WMP10 & the device should start working properly.
