Ironing & washing symbols with explanation.
Iron symbols
- Do not iron
- Iron at low temperature (110°C), for synthetic materials such as acrylic, nylon, acetate and silk.
- Iron at medium/moderate temperature (150°C), for wool and polyester mix.
- Iron at high temperature (190°C), for cotton and linen

Washing symbols
- Do not wash (this usually means garment must be dry cleaned)
- Hand-wash only (cold or lukewarm water, approx. 30°C, no higher than 40°C)
- Machine-wash, suitable for white clothes at the indicated water temperature.
- Machine-wash, suitable for synthetics (anti-crease program), at the indicated water temperature
- Machine-wash, suitable for wool (minimum number of spins), at the indicated water temperature
- Machine-washable up to the indicated temperature
- Special-care washing program for hand wash and machine-washable wool/delicate fabrics, at temperature indicated

Bleaching symbols
- Do not bleach or use detergents that contain a bleaching agent
- Bleaching allowed
- Cold bleaching in diluted form is allowed

Drying symbols
- Do not tumble-dry
- Can be tumble-dried
- Can be tumble-dried at a low heat setting
- Can be tumble-dried at a high heat setting
- Drip-dry
- Line-dry
- Dry flat

Dry-cleaning symbols
- Do not dry clean
- Ordinary fabric, dry cleaning allowed – all common solvents may be used (including petrol)
- Ordinary fabric, dry cleaning allowed – all common solvents may be used (except petrol)
- Careful dry cleaning allowed – the solvents Per (Perchloroethylene) or heavy and light petrol may be used if the filling capacity is reduced by two-thirds, do not add any other fluids
- Ordinary fabric, cleaning with hydrocarbon or petrol allowed (also suitable for removing stains at home)
- Cleaning with hydrocarbon or petrol allowed if the filling capacity is reduced by two-thirds – do not add any other fluids. This cleaning method can be applied at the dry cleaner’s.
