What is pairing and connecting?

  • Most Bluetooth devices must be paired before they can communicate with each other.
  • When devices are paired, they share a pass key. For Philips Bluetooth headsets, the pass key is 0000. The pass key is not needed for some mobile phones.
  • When a headset tries to pair with a phone, it enters pairing mode. The headset type number is displayed in the phone menu. Select the number and then enter the pass key (0000).
  • After two devices are paired, you don’t have to pair them again unless the pairing is deleted on one or both devices.
  • Philips headsets SHB6110, SHB7110, and SHB9000 go into pairing mode automatically:
    • when you first take them out of the box, or
    • whenever they cannot find a previously paired device.

  • After two devices are paired, you can connect them
    • manually in a separate step;
    • automatically without prompting; or
    • automatically after confirming.
  • After one of the devices is switched off or goes out of range, you must reconnect them. Depending on the device settings, you might need to confirm the reconnection on the phone and press a button on the headset. See the user guide of your phone.
