Question

What profiles does the Bluetooth stereo headset support?

Answer

  • Headset Profile (HSP)
For communication between a mobile phone and a headset.
  • Hands-Free Profile (HFP)
For extensions to the HSP functions. Originally, HFP was intended for communication between a mobile phone and a hands-free unit in a stationary car.
  • Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
For stereo audio signals, with better sound quality than HSP and HFP.
  • Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
For commands from a controller (such as a stereo headset) to a target device (such as a PC with a media player). The commands can be play commands, such as search forward, pause, play, and so on.
