The following steps guide you to enjoy music playback when you first use the device. Refer to the related articles below for more detailed instructions of each step.

1. Charge the device:
   Connect the device to a powered computer using the supplied USB cable. 
   
   
   
2. Install Philips Songbird:
   Philips Songbird is a free media player software that works with web services and Philips media players. 
   
   When you connect the device to a computer for the first time, there may be a prompt to ask you to install Philips Songbird. If no, visit www.philips.com/songbird, click on Download Philips Songbird. Install the software to the computer. 
   
   
   
3. Get some songs into the computer: 
   (a) If there is no file of songs in the computer, transfer some songs from the CD to the computer using Philips Songbird. (This process is called “ripping”.)
   
   
   (b) If there are already some files of songs in the computer, import the songs into the Philips Songbird to build up a music library.
4. Transfer the songs from the computer to your device. 
   
   
   
5. Connect the earphone to the device; and switch the device on.
6. Navigate to “Music” in the menu. 
   
   
   
7. Play the music from your player.
