My TV makes a creaking/crackling sound when the TV is turned on/off or to standby.

Answer

This is a normal phenomenon and it does not impact your TV’s performance.

After you turn on your TV or switch it off or to standby, its plastic and metal parts expand or contract due to the changes in temperature. These contractions and expansions are the source of the creaking and crackling sounds, which are similar to the noises that your car makes when its engine and exhaust system are cooling down.
