Question

How do I descale my Minuto?

Answer

Lime scale builds up inside the machine during use. It needs to be removed regularly as it may clog the water and coffee circuit of your machine.
The machine tells you when descaling is needed. When the CALC CLEAN button is on, you need to descale the machine. Regular descaling is necessary to ensure a long life for your Saeco machine.

Caution: Never use vinegar as a decalcifier.
Use the Philips/Saeco decalcifier. You can purchase the SAECO decalcifier separately in the Online shop (http://shop.philips.com/) or at a local dealer.

Descaling instructions
The complete descaling takes up about 35 minutes and consists of 3 cycles: 1 descaling cycle and 2 rinsing cycles.
Attention: once started you need to complete the descale procedure till the very end.

Before you start the descaling cycle, make sure that;

  • The drip tray is empty.
  • The extra water filter (INTENZA+) is removed from the water tank.(optional)

Descaling cycle:

  1. Take out the water tank. Pour the entire bottle of Saeco descaling solution in the water tank.
  2. Top up the water tank with fresh tap water to the MAX line. (Please ensure the max line is reached otherwise this will require further rinsing). Place the water tank back into the machine.
  3. Place a bowl underneath the dispensing spout.
  4. Press and hold the “ ” button (for at least 3 seconds) until the button begins to flash. The machine starts the descaling process.
Note: The “ ” button continues to flash until the descaling process is finished.

  5. The machine is dispensing now the descaling solution at intervals. This takes approx. 25 min. During this period the “ ” light turns on.
  6. When the “ ” lights up, the water tank is empty.

Rinsing cycle:

  1. Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it up to the MAX level with fresh water. Place it back into the machine. The “ ” lights turns on.
  2. When the “ ” button flashes, press it to start the first rinse cycle.
  3. When the “ ” lights up, the water tank is empty.

  4. Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it up to the MAX level with fresh water. Place it back into the machine. The “ ” lights turns on.
  5. When the “ ” button flashes, press it to start the second rinse cycle.
  6. When the “ ” lights up, the water tank is empty.

  7. Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it up to the MAX level with fresh water. Place it back into the machine.
  8. The “ ” and the “ ” indications start to flash, and the machine automatically starts priming the circuit.
Important note: If the “ ” symbol lights up again, you did not fill the water tank up to MAX level. Refill the water tank up to MAX level and perform another rinsing cycle. Repeat steps 10-12 until the “ ” and the “ ” lights will start to flash. You may have to do this several times before the ‘ready’ symbol appears.
  9. The “ ” button turns off .
  10. The “ ” and “ ” buttons will start to flash simultaneously and the machine carries out the warm-up and automatic rinse cycle to prepare for coffee brewing.

  11. Empty the drip tray and place it back.
  12. Place back the Classic Milk Frother.
  13. Wash the brew group afterwards with water.
  14. The machine is now ready for use.
