Question

How do I descale my machine?

Answer

When the orange descaling light shines steadily, you need to descale the machine.
Caution: Never use vinegar as a decalcifier. Only use Philips/Saeco decalcifier CA6700 to descale the machine.
You can purchase the SAECO decalcifier separately at a local dealer or at the Online shop. Click here to go to the online shop.

Tips before you start descaling:

  • Take the time to descale the machine. The complete descaling process takes approx. 30 minutes.
  • Once you have started descaling, you must complete it till the very end without any interruption.
  • The complete descaling process exists of 1 descaling and 1 rinsing cycle.
  • Keep the descaling instructions at hand, as you need to perform several steps.
  • Have a large container at hand to collect the water.
  • Remove the extra INTENZA+ filter, if present.
  • Remove the pannarello/cappuccinatore, if present.

Descale process
Descaling Cycle:

  1. Turn OFF the machine.
  2. Empty the drip tray and place it back.
  3. Empty the water tank and poor the entire Philips/Saeco descaling solution in it. Fill it up with fresh water to the MAX level and put it back.
  4. Place a large container under the steam/water wand.
  5. Turn the control dial to the central position “ "

  6. Press the and buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.
The machine dispenses internally at several one minute intervals the descaling solution in the drip tray. It does not dispense through the hot water/steam wand. This will take approximately 5 minutes.
The orange descaling light starts flashing slowly and will continue to do so during the entire descaling cycle.
  7. When the green  light shines steadily, turn the control dial to the position. After approximately 1 minute, the machine dispenses at several one minute intervals through the hot water/steam wand until the water tank is empty. This will take approximately 15 minutes.
  8. When the green light is flashing slowly, turn the control dial to the position. The light turns off¬ and the red light starts to shine steadily.
  9. Remove and empty the container and drip tray and put them back.

Rinse Cycle

  1. Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it up to the MAX level with fresh water. Put it back into the machine.
  2. When the green light starts to shine steadily, turn the control dial to the position. The machine performs a short circuit priming.
The orange descaling light flashes double during the whole rinse cycle.
  3. When the green light starts flashing slowly, turn the control dial to the position. The machine dispenses water internally in the drip tray. It does not dispense through the hot water/steam wand.

  4. When the green light starts to shine steadily, turn the control dial to the position. The machine now dispenses from the steam/water wand.
  5. When the rinse cycle has been completed, the orange light turns off and the light flashes. Turn the control dial to the position.
  6. The green light flashes. The machine warms up and performs an automatic rinse cycle.
