Question

How do I descale my machine?

Answer

When the orange descaling light shines steadily, you need to descale the machine.
Caution: Never use vinegar as a decalcifier. Only use Philips/Saeco decalcifier CA6700 to descale the machine.
You can purchase the Philips/Saeco decalcifier separately at a local dealer or at the Online shop. Click here to go to the Online Shop.

Tips before you start descaling:

  • Take the time to descale the machine. The complete descaling process takes approx. 30 minutes.
  • The complete descaling process exists of 1 descaling and 1 rinsing cycle.
  • Once you have started descaling, you must complete it till the very end without any interruption.
  • Keep the descaling instructions at hand, as you need to perform several steps.
  • Have a large container at hand to collect the water.
  • Remove the extra INTENZA+ filter, if present.

Descale
Descaling Cycle:

  1. Turn OFF the machine.
  2. Empty the drip tray and place it back.
  3. Empty the water tank and poor the entire Philips/Saeco descaling solution in it. Fill it up with fresh water to the MAX level and put it back.
  4. Place a large container under the coffee dispensing spout.

  5. Press the button for 5 seconds. The orange  light starts flashing slowly and will continue to do so during the entire descaling cycle.
  6. The machine dispenses at several one minute intervals the descaling solution through the coffee dispensing spout until the water tank is empty. This will take approximately 20 minutes.
  7. When the red light turns on, remove and empty the container and drip tray and put them back.

Rinse Cycle:

  1. Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it up to the MAX level with fresh water. Put it back into the machine.
  2. The machine starts dispensing water through the coffee dispensing spout. The orange  light flashes double during the whole rinse cycle.
  3. When the rinse cycle has been completed, the orange  light turns off and the green  light flashes. The machine warms up and performs an automatic rinse cycle.
