How do I transfer music to my GoGear player from computer?

Answer

TIP:The order in which your device will play tracks is according to the file names of the tracks in alphabetical order.

You can download non copy protected music to the GoGear player via Windows Explorer:

For Windows 98SE/ME/2000 users -

  1. Hook up your GoGear player with the PC.
  2. Run Windows Explorer, and select the files to download from your music file source directory.
  3. Drag and drop the selected files to the GoGear player, which is named as GoGear Audio in Windows Explorer.
  4. Once the transfer process is complete, click on the removal icon on the task tray to stop and eject the GoGear. When a message appears saying the USB device can now be safely removed from the system, click OK.
  5. Unplug from the PC and enjoy the music on your GoGear.

For Windows XP users -

  1. Hook up your GoGear with the PC via the supplied USB cable. Launch Windows Explorer.
    • Note: Once the device is connected to the computer, all playback or radio will stop.
  2. Drag and drop your music files into the Media folder of the GoGear device.
  3. Once the transfer is completed, close Windows Explorer.
  4. Unplug the GoGear from the PC and enjoy the music on your GoGear.

For copy protected (DRM) or Plays For Sure music, please download through the use of Windows Media Player Transfer (MPT) music with Windows Media Player 10.

  1. Hook up your GoGear with the PC via the supplied USB cable.
  2. Plug your GoGEAR into a wall outlet with the supplied AC adapter.
  3. Launch the version of Windows Media Player 10 installed in your computer.
    • Note: Once the device is connected to the computer, all playback or radio will stop.
  4. Click Sync or on the File menu, point to CDs and Devices, and then click Synchronize….
  5. In the Items to Copy pane, in the drop-down list, click the playlist, category, or other item that you want to copy.
  6. Click the check boxes next to any files you want to copy. 
  7. In the Items on Device pane, in the drop-down list, click to select GoGear Audio to copy files to.Click the Start Sync button. If device is not identified on the drop down list refresh by pressing F5 on your computer.
  8. The Player verifies that there is sufficient storage space on the device to copy the selected files. If there is sufficient space, the files are converted (if necessary) and copied to the portable device.
  9. Repeat steps 2-5 for any other items that you want to copy to your portable device.
  10. Once the transfer is completed, close the Windows Media Player.
  11. Unplug the GoGear from the PC.
