Question

Player locks up or freezes at the end of some tracks

Answer

Some of those music tracks may be copy protected. Early versions of the PSA with firmware version 2.6 or under may only play back MP3 and non-protected WMA files. You may follow the steps below to check your firmware version:

  1. Switch on the unit and then select SETTINGS->FACTORY SETTING.
  2. Press and hold the button for 3 sec, the display will show the current firmware version

If you have downloaded WMA files into your PSA but unable to find them, they are most likely digitally protected within Windows Media Player based on DRM (Digital Rights Management).

When WMA have been protected within Windows Media Player, the files are then unable to be copied and sent to the PSA player. This will cause the files to be seen within Musicmatch Jukebox library, but will not appear or playback within the PSA player.

If your firmware version is already 2.9d then there is NO need to update the firmware otherwise download the updated firmware that supports DRM encoded WMA files from http://www.usasupport.philips.com.

Before doing the firmware upgrade, please make sure that you have one of the below OS installed on your computer. Microsoft Windows98(SE), ME, Windows2000 (Service Pack 4 or higher) or Windows XP (Service Pack 1 or higher)
