The device appears to be dead or no power with nothing on display.


  • The button is not pressed and held long enough. To activate the unit, press and hold the until the screen light up.
  • The battery may dead. Please recharge by connecting your GoGear player to the computer for 4 hours with the computer turned on.
  • The GoGear freezes or hangs up. Do a soft reset by using a pencil or similar small object to press the RESET pinhole until the unit shuts down (blank screen). Then press and hold the button to switch on the device (screen lights up).
  • The firmware of your GoGear may be corrupted.
    1. Make sure that your computer is online and connecting to the Internet.
    2. Launch the Firmware Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Firmware Manager on your PC.
    3. Switch on your GoGear and then press and hold the key to switch the GoGear off.
    4. Continue pressing and holding the key while connecting your GoGear to the computer. (The screen should display “off”.)
    5. You need to continue pressing & holding the key until the Firmware Manager recognize the GoGear and a dialogue box pops up in the recovery mode.
      • If you failed going into recovery mode, and “Please connect the device in recovery mode” is displayed repeat steps 1 to 3.
    6. Click Start to confirm and start recovering the unit to its factory setting.
      IMPORTANT: All music & content of your GoGear Player will be erased once the factory setting is restored.
    7. Follow all on-screen instructions.
    8. Click Finish when the recover operation is completed.
    9. The Firmware manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed.
    10. Close all opened applications and then unplug your GoGear.
