The device appears to be dead or no power with nothing on display.


  • button is not pressed and held long enough. To activate the unit, press and hold the until the screen light up.
  • Battery may be exhausted. Use a fresh battery.
  • The GoGear freezes or hangs up. Do a soft reset by removing the battery for 10 seconds then re-inserting it.
  • The firmware of your GoGear may be corrupted.
    1. Make sure that your computer is online and connecting to the Internet.
    2. Launch the Firmware Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Firmware Manager on your PC.
    3. Connect your GoGear to the computer while pressing & holding the key until the Firmware Manager recognize the GoGear and a dialogue box pops up in recover mode.
    4. Click Start to confirm and start recovering the unit to its factory setting.
      • IMPORTANT: All music & content of your GoGear Player will be erased once the factory setting is restored.
    5. Follow all screen instructions and click Finish at the end to complete the recovery.
    6. The Firmware Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed.
    7. Close all opened applications and then safely remove your GoGear by clicking on the EJECT HARDWARE icon in your task tray bar.
    8. When prompted, "The USB Mass Storage Device can now be safely removed from the system", click OK and unplug your GoGear.
