To upgrade your GoGear, you need to do a recovery of the device, which will erase the content of your device. Please first backup all the content in your GoGear to your computer.
Make sure that your computer is online and connecting to the Internet.
Launch the Firmware Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Firmware Manager on your PC.
Switch on your GoGear and then press & hold the key so the GoGear switches off.
Continue to press & hold the key so the display says "Off" and connect your GoGear to the computer.
Still pressing & holding the key wait until the Firmware Manager recognize the GoGear and a dialogue box pop up in recover mode. ** If you fail to go into recovery mode, and “please connect the device in recovery mode” is displayed please repeat step 1 to step 5.
Release the key.
Click Start to confirm and start recovering the unit to its factory setting. IMPORTANT: All music & content of your GoGear player will be erased once the factory setting is restored.
Follow all of the on-screen instructions.
Click Finish at the end to complete the recovery.
The Firmware manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed.
Close all opened application and then safely remove your GoGear by clicking on the EJECT HARDWARE icon in your task tray bar.
When the prompt “The USB Mass Storage Device can now be safely removed from the system” appears, click OK and unplug your GoGear.
