My computer running on Windows XP has wrongly recognized the PSA player as digitial camera or scanner.

Answer

You may have Windows Media Player 9 which does not support Media Transfer Protocol MTP device installed in your computer. Upgrade to Windows Media Player 10 from the provided installation CD.

  1. Insert the Philips Installation CD into your computer.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of Windows Media Player 10.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Plug your PSA into a power outlet with the supplied AC adapter.
  5. Connect your PSA player to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
  6. Right click on My Computer.
  7. Select Properties.
  8. Select the Hardware tab.
  9. Click on Device Manager button.
  10. Expand the Imaging Devices and select Philips.
  11. Right click on Philips and select Uninstall.
  12. Click OK on the Confirm Device Removal window so that the driver is uninstalled.
  13. Disconnect the device from PC and reconnect it.
  14. Now the device will be detected as a MTP device.
  15. Launch Windows Media Player 10 to transfer the music to your PSA device.

If you already have Windows Media Player 10 installed and still have this problem, you may need to uninstall the Philips driver from Windows Device Manager and reconnect the device to your computer.

  1. Connect your PSA player to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. Plug your PSA player into a wall outlet with the supplied AC adapter.
  3. Right click on My Computer.
  4. Select Properties.
  5. Select the Hardware tab.
  6. Click on Device Manager button.
  7. Expand the Imaging Devices and select Philips.
  8. Right click on Philips and select Uninstall.
  9. Click OK on the Confirm Device Removal window so that the driver is uninstalled.
  10. Disconnect the device from PC and reconnect it.
  11. Now the device will be detected as a MTP device.
  12. Launch Windows Media Player 10 to transfer the music to your PSA device.
