How do I upgrade my player with the latest firmware?
Check your firmware version by selecting Settings from the root menu of your player, and then go to Information and select the firmware version. If your firmware version is the same as the latest version posted on the support website at www.philips.com/support, then there is no need to update the firmware. However, if you do not have the latest version, follow the steps below.
Connect the player to your PC.
Launch the Philips Device Manager at Start > Programs > Philips Device Manager > Philips Device Manager on your PC. If you do not have this program installed, install it from the supplied CD or download it from www.philips.com/support.
Make sure all other applications, such as the Philips Device plug-in, Windows Media Player, and Windows Explorer, that access the device are closed. Otherwise Device Manager will not recognize the device.
Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
The Philips Device Manager will detect the connection of your player, and the application will automatically check on the Internet to see if an update is available, prompting you to download the up-to-date firmware. Click Yes to start the download. (Do not disconnect the player during the upgrade process, as an interruption may damage the firmware!)
A status bar will display the download progress of the firmware. Once the download is complete, the application will prompt you to install the update onto your player. Click Yes to confirm.
The application will show the update status, and at the end, you must click OK to complete the update. (Do not disconnect the player during the upgrade process, as an interruption may damage the firmware!)
Follow all the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware upgrade.
The Device Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. Close all opened applications, and then unplug your player.
