Question

Why do I loose the correct time on the control panel after a configuration file download?

Answer

  • When downloading a configuration to the control panel, the editor will set the internal clock of the control panel to match the time on the host PC.  So make sure the host PC has the correct time set, and that its time zone is set correctly.
  • If you want to set the clock of a control panel for a customer who lives in a different time zone than yourself, it is recommended to either temporarily change your time zone on the host PC or to edit the time manually on the control panel after the download.
TIP: if your host PC is connected to the Internet, you might want to synchronize it with a public reference clock. (see Configuring Windows 2000 and Windows XP to use NIST Time Servers )
