What is Gracenote?

Gracenote is a technology company founded in 1995 as CDDB, Inc. Since its inception, its products and services have grown from a compact disc database to a full-featured music recognition service and content delivery engine.

The company's name changed to Gracenote in July, 2000, to emphasize an expanding number of products and services besides its core music recognition service based on the CDDB database.

Why do I need to update it?

The Gracenote file makes it possible to show CD information during playback.
