Why can’t I enable music sharing with my unit by using Windows Media Player 11 in Windows XP?

Answer

IMPORTANT:

Before you configure your PC, ensure that you have selected UPnP framework in the exception list of Windows firewall or anti-virus software (Details please refer to the user manual of the anti-virus software).

You need to configure your PC before you can use the media sharing by using Windows Media Player 11 in Windows XP.

  1. Click START --> CONTROL PANEL --> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -->SERVICES.

         
  2. Find the option of SSDP Discovery Service, double click it to open the setup page, and then change the Startup type to Automatic
      
  3. Repeat steps 2 for Universal Plug and Play  as that for SSDP Discovery Service to change the Startup type to Automatic.
  4. Repeat steps 2 for Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service to change the Startup type to Automatic.
  5. At Desktop of your PC, double click the icon of My Network Places --> Show icons for networked UPnP devices.
      
  6. Follow the pop-up instructions from your PC to finish the settings.
