What are the sypmtoms of the winter blues?
The symptoms normally occur in the darker period of the year. Seasonally affected persons feel less energetic and they are often in low spirits. They may sleep 2-4 hours more than usual and still feel tired when they get up. They may try to cheer themselves up by eating food that contains lots of sugar or carbohydrates such as chocolate, ice cream and pasta, which can easily lead to an increase in weight each winter. The symptoms may develop into a vicious circle, which may even lead to social isolation.
