Why does the sterilizer give off an unpleasant smell when I use it?

Baby milk or other residue inside the bottle may end up on the heating plate when the bottles are placed in the sterilizer. When the appliance heats up, this causes an unpleasant smell. To avoid this, always clean the bottles properly before you place them in the sterilizer and start the sterilization process. For detailed cleaning instructions, please read "Do I have to wash the bottles before I put them in the sterilizer?" and the instructions in the user manual.
