How can I create milk foam with my Odea?

Answer

You can create milk froth with the steam wand (Pannarello or Cappuccinatore optional). 
Use cold (approx. 5°C / 41°F) milk with a protein content of at least 3% to ensure optimum results when preparing milk foam. 

Before you start frothing milk, make sure uniform steam is released from the steam wand / pannarello.

  1. Place an empty container under the steam wand / Pannarello.
  2. Press the steam button. The steam light turns on and the temperature light starts flashing.
  3. Wait until the temperature light is steady on.
  4. Turn the knob to the  position.
  5. Drain any residual water and wait until the spout ejects steam only. Turn the knob to the rest position

 


Now you can froth the milk the steam wand / Pannarello:
Warning!
Scalding hazard! The pannarello/steam wand becomes very hot during frothing and small jets of hot water may precede the dispensing of steam. Never touch the pannarello with your bare hands shortly before, during and shortly after frothing. Only use the heat-resistant handle to operate the pannarello.

  1. Fill 1/3 of a container with cold milk (approx. 5°C / 41°F).
  2. Place the Pannarello halfway in the container with milk.
  3. Turn the knob to the position.
  4. Froth the milk by gently swirling the container and moving it up and down. When the milk froth has the desired consistency, turn the knob back to the the rest position .
  5. After foaming milk, you first needs to vent the machine before brewing an espresso. See further instructions below how to vent the machine. 

 



Important!
After creating milk foam you always first need to vent the machine before brewing a coffee.

  1. Place an empty container under the steam wand / Pannarello.
  2. Press the steam button. The steam light turns on and the temperature light starts flashing.
  3. Turn the knob to the position.
  4. When the temperature light is steady on, turn the knob back to the the rest position .
  5. The machine is ready to brew a coffee.



How to create milk foam with the Cappuccinatore (optional):

  1. Remove the Pannarello.
  2. Assemble the cappuccinatore with the union.
  3. Fully insert the cappuccinatore.
  4. Press the steam button. The steam light turns on and the temperature light starts flashing.
  5. Wait until the temperature light is steady on.
  6. Turn the knob to the position.
  7. Drain any residual water and wait until the spout ejects steam only.
  8. Turn the knob to the rest position .
  9. Insert the tube into the milk container.You can adjust the froth. High = tighter froth. Once finished, close the knob.
  10. Turn the knob to the  position.
  11. You can adjust the froth. High = tighter froth.
  12. When the amount of frothed milk has reached, turn the knob back to the the rest position .
